Abstract: Seed morphology and effects of water extracts of pulp, seed and decoated seed on germination of cabbage and wheat seeds were studied. The results showed that the pulp, seed and decoated seed contain soluble inhibiting substances and the content decreased as the increasing of soaking time. The inhibition substances in Sorbus pohuashanensis(Hance)Hedl fruit not only restrained the seeds of wheat, cabbage from germinating but also restrained height and root growth.
