Abstract: Objective: To chinesize surgical fear questionnaire(SFQ) and test the reliability and validity of Chinese SFQ in surgical patients before surgery. Methods:267 surgical patients who were about to undergo surgery were collected to do the SFQ convenience sampling in Wuhan tertiary hospital, and 15 patients were randomly selected for SFQ retest 2 weeks later. Results: SFQ Chinese Cronbach`s alpha coefficient was 0.968, retest reliability was 0.906(P<0.05). SFQ-S was 0.925, SFQ-L was 0.955, the correlation coefficient between each items was 0.56-0.82. Exploratory factor analysis indicated two factors were extracted, the amount of interpretation was 51.230% and 36.09% respectively, and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 87.321%. Confirmatory factor analysis indicated all measurements were in the general level. Conclusion: The Chinese version of SFQ has good reliability and validity, it can be used as an assessment tool for patients` surgical fear.
