Digital Economy, Circulation Efficiency and Industrial Structure UpgradingChinese Full Text

Abstract: The article uses the data of 278 cities( prefecture-level and above) across China from 2004 to 2019 to examine the relationship between digital economy,circulation efficiency and industrial structure upgrading. The study finds that:( 1) The level of digital economy development has a significant impact on the rationalization and advancement of industrial structure. The direct promotion effect is to realize the upgrading of the industrial structure mainly by optimizing the efficiency of resource allocation and promoting the integration of digital technology and traditional industries.( 2) The digital economy can indirectly promote the rationalization and advancement of the industrial structure by affecting the efficiency of circulation,but the influence of the digital economy on the efficiency of circulation shows an obstructive effect,which is manifested as the lower the level of digital economy development,the more obvious the obstructive effect of regions.( 3) The higher the level of development of the digital economy,the more obvious the direct and indirect promotion of the rationalization and advancement of the industrial structure in the areas with the higher level of development of the digital economy. The areas with lower levels of development of the digital economy will be affected by the siphon effect of areas with higher levels of development and hinder the local industrial structure upgrading.( 4) The digital economy has a double threshold for the rationalization and advancement of the industrial structure. After crossing the threshold of 2.138,the impact of the digital economy on the rationalization and advancement of the industrial structure has been significantly improved and turned from negative to positive.
